Success in biotechnology depends on many factors, from brain drain and gain to venture capital and beyond. Assessing 48 countries on their overall capabilities to generate innovation in biotechnology. The final results arise from a collection of averages and totals. As a quick summary: Each country received a score in five categories—IP, Enterprise Support, Intensity, Education/Workforce and Foundations—that were composed of a set of components.

Slovenská asociácia pre industriálnu biotechnológiu sa zúčastnila 2. Medzinárodnej konferencie CLIB 2021 v dňoch 5-6. apríla v Düssledorfe, globálneho partnerského a networkingového podujatia v biotechnologickom sektore. Konferencia sa zameriavala na niekoľko inovatívnych oblastí ako genomika a proteomika, vývoj mikrobiálnych rodov, fermentácie, biokatalýza a expresia, downstream procesy, transformácia uhlíkového zdroja a biotechnologické intermediáty.

The General Manager of the company Evonik Fermas, Ltd., Mr. Miroslav Havlík was nominated by the economical weekly paper Trend for the Manager of the Year 2010.
After finishing studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Miroslav Havlík took up a postion in in Biotika, Slovenská Ľupča. German company Degussa set him forward to the new management in 1992. Degussa became a part of even larger concern Evonik.
New start for biotechnology in Slovakia?

The roundtable on industrial biotechnology in Slovakia took place on 16 June 2008 in Bratislava in the Hotel Danube. The event was initiated by EuropaBio in the framework of the European Technology Platform on Sustainable Chemistry - SusChem. The roundtable has been locally organised by Prof. Milan Polakovič from the Slovak University of Technology and member of the Slovak Association for Industrial Biotechnology. Participants to the roundtable were representatives from academia, enterprises, development agencies and ministries/government bodies with an interest in the field of biotechnology.
